Phoenix Traders to close doors as co-owner's wife battles health issues

Local business Phoenix Traders is closing its doors after 14 years in downtown Rockford.

Co-owner Jim Phelps released a statement saying the business itself was viable, but will close as his wife Janet faces ongoing health issues.

Phelps plans to seek out other employment opportunities to avoid financial difficulties. Phelps asks the community and loyal customers to understand that family comes first.

"I want the folks who have been supporting us for years please know that from the bottom of our hearts Jan and I appreciate all your support," Phelps said. "We would love to see you as we close the business. We are trying to close it in an orderly way so theres avyer good memmory about what we've done here."

The store is having a closing sale and Phelps says everything must go.
