ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Whether you're a football fan or not, chances are you heard about today's game.
It's Super Bowl Sunday, which means most people were doing one of two things, hosting a watch party at their house or cheering on their favorite team at a local bar.
"Alright, let's go patriots," yells Craig Jovonatich, a Patriots fan.
Jovonatich is in town for work so he decided to hit the bars with a coworker.
"Ahh, usually attend a party at a friend's house," added Jovonatich.
Every year during the big game, bars and restaurants across the country go from empty to packed, which also helps local businesses.. Justin Belknat, the manager of District Bar and Grill says he saw the increase in business.
"Ah, we're actually a little bit busier than last year," said Belknat.
With everyone out supporting their teams, the question is, who's the favorite around town.
"I think a lot of people don't like the Patriots. I'm a big Tom Brady fan so i'm on the other side but talking to people and seeing the score predictions, a lot of people don't want to see them win," added Belknat.
Belknat's not the only one. Jovonatich is all the way from Michigan but he also said that Brady deserves the win.
"He's got a lot of dedication, fine for his age, he works hard and keeps at it. And I think Belichick is probably the best coach in the NFL," said Jovonatich.
With the competition aside, today was more about hanging out with family and friends and enjoying the big game.
"Everybody have a good time tonight," said Jovonatich.
Besides the game, the commercials are a huge topic every year. It's safe to say your Facebook feed is about to get flooded with them.
