ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A question asking voters if they'd like to see a railway system from Chicago to East Dubuque come through the stateline will be on the November ballot.
The referendum initially failed in the Winnebago County Operations and Administrative Committee. The full board voted 11-8 to put it on the ballot. Some board members say a passenger rail system could come at a cost to taxpayers but many say it would be a great economic driver for the area. The decision to move further will be left to the voters in November.
