Overnight vehicle fire spreads to two homes in west Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- An overnight vehicle fire on Rockford’s west side causes $35,000 worth of damage.

Fire crews were called to the fire around 1:49 a.m. Saturday morning. When they got there, they found a vehicle on fire in the driveway with an extension to a home at 1824 Hulin Street.

Fire crews upgraded it to a structure fire. Firefighters controlled the fire within 22 minutes. Everyone inside the home evacuated, and no one was hurt.

The home is unable to be lived in until repairs are done. An adjacent home at 1820 Hulin Street was also damaged. The cause is still under investigation.
