Overnight house fire ends in $2,000 of damages
An overnight house fire ends in $2,000 worth of damages and one person being sent to the hospital.
The Rockford Fire Department says it arrived to the 1900 block of 16th Avenue just before 12:00 a.m. after receiving a call for a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, firecrews reported light smoke coming from the house and an extinguished mattress was in the front yard.
There was no actively burning fire inside the home, but firefighters did need to use ventilation to remove smoke for the house.
One person was sent to a nearby hospital for minor smoke inhalation.
Rockford Fire also says there were no working smoke detectors inside the house and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
