Outgoing Winnebago principal finds new job after vote to not renew contract

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Ron Gruber, outgoing principal at Winnebago High School, has a new job.

Gruber will be taking over as the headmaster at Rock County Christian School in Beloit.

Gruber had accepted the job before an emotional vote​ to not renew his contract with Winnebago County High School on Thursday night. The school board had voted unanimously against his contract renewal, leaving some in the community in shock.

On the Rock County Christian School website, Gruber announced he had accepted the position in a news release dated for March 21.

He say he is thrilled to join the Rock County Christian family. Gruber had served as Winnebago's principal for the past six years.
