One suspect arrested for murder of Freeport man, one person still at large

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) UPDATE: Freeport Police arrested one suspect in an on-going murder investigation, but are still looking for a second suspect.

23-year-old Javian Adams was taken into custody without incident Saturday. He is being held at the Stephenson County Jail in lieu of bond.

Police report that Javian's mother, 41-year-old Jennifer Adams, is still at large. Javian and Jennifer Adams are accused for the death of Thomas Fort, a 45-year-old man who was found dead​ Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Iroquois Street.

Police say Fort was physically assaulted by at least one person in the 600 block of West Stephenson Street earlier that morning. According to an autopsy, Fort suffered multiple facial injuries, including a fractured jaw. The cause of his death has not yet been determined, but pending a final report from the Stephenson County Coroner's Office.
