UPDATE: The Lee County Coroner identifies the 23-year-old Dixon man whose car was fully submerged in the Rock River Monday afternoon.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says Devon M. Jensen was pronounced dead at a local hospital Monday night.

He was pulled to shore around 2:50 p.m. near White Oak Lane and was the only person in the car.

The accident remains under investigation.

A Dixon man is dead after driving his car into the Rock River Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 3 p.m. near White Oak Lane in Dixon. Rescue crews were able to locate the fully submerged vehicle and pull it to shore.

There was only one person in the vehicle and he was taken to KSB Hospital in Dixon, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Lee County Coroner's office tells 23 News they are withholding releasing his name until Tuesday morning.

One person was taken to a hospital after a car went into the Rock River in the Dixon area, emergency crews say.

Emergency crews responded to the Rock River in Dixon on Monday afternoon. The Byron Fire District and other local responders were at the scene around 6 p.m.
