UPDATE: Woman's condition thought to be non-life threatening

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Rockford Fire officials say the woman taken to the hospital following an apartment fire is not believed to have life-threatening injuries.

Crews say the fire at 1415 Overdene was confined to apartment four, but the other seven units have some smoke damage.

Crews still believe the fire is accidental, but they are investigating. Damages have been raised to $60,000.


ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- One person is taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation following an afternoon apartment fire in Rockford.

Fire crews say they responded to a unit inside an apartment building in the 1400 block of Overdene Avenue around 11:30 a.m. The fire took about 11 minutes to control.

At this time, investigators believe the fire was an accident. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
