UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Rockford city officials are asking what the Cliffbreakers Hotel and Resort will do in response to the shooting early New Years morning.

10 shots were fired leaving 3 injured and 1 dead after a fight broke out during a New Years Eve party.

"I think that there need to be cameras. I think that they need to have a full-time security in the premise," says 10th Ward Alderman Jeanne Oddo, who believes these measures will lower the violence. She says it's crucial that individual businesses work with the city and police to ensure that their customers are safe.

8th Ward Alderman, Frank Beach, says he believes it's up to each individual citizen to come forward about information concerning criminals.

"The sad part about this, in my opinion, is there are people that know what happened. There are people that know who pulled the trigger. There are people that know this that need to come forward, as citizens of our community, and talk to the police department," says Beach, who adds that citizens can always call the police anonymously with information on any crime.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Joshua Jamerson. Police are still investigating and have yet to identify any suspects.
