OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- Ogle County chairman Kim Gouker died Tuesday.
Gouker joined the Ogle County board in 1996 and was later elected to the position of the board chairman in 2012. He also owned an insurance, annuities and tax preparation business in Ogle County.
County leaders say Gouker oversaw the construction of the Ogle County Judicial Center, the renovation of the Ogle County Courthouse and the current Ogle County Jail project.
“Chairman Gouker will be missed, not only for his contributions to local government, but also his wit and personality,” said Ogle County State’s Attorney Eric Morrow in a statement.
The Ogle County Board will elect a new chairman on Sept. 17 to serve the rest of Gouker's term.
Sauk Valley Media reports Gouker was found dead in his home by police officers who were conducting a welfare check.
