Few folks, outside of the heartiest of souls, will be taking to the water in the days and weeks ahead, but those who do can enjoy the Rock River without wake restrictions.
Friday Afternoon, Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana lifted the No Wake order that was in effect for the Rock River in Winnebago County. The river had been either closed to watercraft or under a No Wake order for the better part of the past two months.
River levels Friday now sit between two and three feet below flood stage along the Rock River in both Rockton and Machesney Park, where the most significant flood concerns were located.
Should any boaters still choose to use the river before it freezes over for the winter, they're still advised to exercise extreme caution at all times, as currents do remain somewhat fast, and pockets of debris may still reside in the water.
