ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A few families in need will have a comfortable place to sleep this holiday season thanks to a local mattress company.

This year, Slumberland will donate nearly 1,000 new mattresses and box springs throughout the Midwest, including 30 deliveries to Rockford families.

"No kid should be sleeping on the floor during the holiday seasons and it's a great gift to be able to provide to these kids who are sleeping on the floor during the holiday season. I've been to these homes when you give a kid a bed it's spectacular it means the same if not more than a toy believe it or not," says Slumberland manager Wade Kemmet.

The donations are through the company's Making Homes for the Holidays program that has given more than 30,000 mattresses and box springs to families since 1993.

The company says while a bed may not be the first donation we think of during the holiday season, it is just as important as a toy or a meal.
