Freeport, Ill (WIFR) -- Through the generosity of local donors, Highland community college will continue the tradition of education excellence in northwest Illinois with its new agriculture greenhouse.

The new AG building will allow for students to further study horticulture and other crop and soil sciences. The greenhouse is expected to be completed by the fall semester.

"Agriculture is a huge part of our economy, if you look around there are fields and farms everywhere,” said Highland Community College agriculture instructor Monica Pierce. “It's not just producer that we prepare the next group of professionals, but we prepare all the supporting careers."
