Naperville marijuana bust leads to arrest of two Rockford residents

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WIFR) -- Two Rockford residents were arrested after Naperville Police recovered 68 pounds of marijuana from a drug investigation earlier this month.

Edwin Mendoza, 27, and Melissa Tavares, 23, face charges of cannabis trafficking, possession and possession with intent to deliver.

Police were investigating for suspected drug activity Sunday night on the 4600 block of Fesseneva Court in Naperville. Officers say the home, which had been used by a popular Internet home rental site was suspected for hiding marijuana.

After searching the home, police found around 68 pounds of cannabis with an estimated value of $311,000. Police also recovered two vehicles and $4,000 in cash.

Another suspect from California was arrested following the investigation. All three suspects are in custody at the Will County Jail.
