DEKALB, Ill. (WIFR) -- For more than two years, members of the Northern Illinois University United Faculty Alliance has been negotiating its first contract with the university's board of trustees.

Now, members say the bargaining has gone on for too long. UFA members and supporters raised concerns about the ongoing negotiations during a news conference Thursday morning.

"I believe that we are being listened to," says Mark Schulller, vice president of the NIU United Faculty Alliance. "Today in particular was the first time some of the board members even heard some of the specifics, and I think that's positive,"

Members also called for salary increases, university oversight and clear-cut policies in areas like non-discrimination and harassment.
