DEKALB, Ill. (WIFR) -- Northern Illinois University hopes to make college more accessible for aspiring students through a national effort.
NIU is among 130 public universities involved in a collaborative effort known as "Powered by Publics." The effort is organized by the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The schools will work together for plans to increase college access, close the achievement gap and award hundreds of thousands more degree by 2025.
