Motorcyclist dies after a crash in Belvidere

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) --Winnebago County Coroner, Bill Hintz, released the name of the man who died in the motorcycle collision Saturday afternoon as 26-year-old Brian Fulton of Belvidere.

The Coroner's Office says Fulton was taken to a local hospital after the crash but despite all efforts by medical staff he could not be revived.

The death in under investigation by the Belvidere Police Department.

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) -- A motorcyclist is pronounced dead after crashing into the rear end of a vehicle in Belvidere Saturday afternoon.

Officials says around 1:40 p.m. the Belvidere Police Department and Boone County Sheriff's Deputies respond to the 5500 block of Newburg Road for a vehicle versus motorcycle accident.

Officers say witnesses at the scene tell them the motorcyclist was passing vehicles and traveling at a high speed on Newburg Road. They say one witness reported a Jeep Cherokee was stopped to turn when the motorcycle was unable to stop in time before hitting the rear end of the Jeep, where the driver was thrown from the motorcycle.

Officials say Lifeline paramedics treated and transported the driver of the motorcycle to a local hospital were he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep was released on scene.

Police say the cause of the accident is still under investigation and the identities of the drivers are not being disclosed at this time.
