Mississippi man busted in Rockford; had a loaded gun, ammunition in his car

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Mississippi man was arrested Wednesday morning after a traffic stop in Rockford, during which officers found a loaded gun and ammunition in his car.

Dwight Die, 44, of Greenwood, Mississippi, was pulled over around 1 a.m. in the 800 block of North Central Avenue.

Police say there was ammunition on his lap when he was pulled over. Officers later found a loaded handgun and a pipe used to smoke narcotics in his car.

Die was also driving under the influence and cited for traffic violations, according to police. He was taken into custody without incident.

Die was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, violation of an order of protection, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Die was taken to the Winnebago County Jail. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
