ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) ----- Just months after receiving its official permits to function as a working non-profit out of the family's home, Miss Carly's hosted its first fundraiser at the Veterans Memorial Hall.
The all-day event extravaganza was chocked full of fun, from auctions raffling off amazing donated items, to live music and games. Families gave back to the organization as it looks to grow and serve more of the city's homeless population.
"The community has built us, so this is paramount, this is the biggest amount of money we've probably ever pulled in, and we need it because we're feeding healthy protein and veggie-dense meals to people in 1200 sack lunches or more a week," said Carly Rice.
The team behind the event says they are so grateful for this year's big turnout and look forward to continuing the fun next year.
