MILWAUKEE, Wis., (AP) -- A day care worker has been charged with the death of a 7-week-old child in Milwaukee.
37-year-old Claudette Mitchell is charged with first-degree reckless homicide for the August 22, 2017 death of Savaiyah Reid at Who's Loving You day care.
A criminal complaint says Mitchell told the police she put the baby down for a nap and when she checked on her about an hour later she was unresponsive and had scratches and blood on her face.
According to the Journal Sentinel, the autopsy showed Savaiyah had suffered a skull fracture with bruising around her face and on her abdomen.
Mitchell told investigators that none of the eight other children went into the bedroom where Savaiyah was napping. She is being held on a $75,000 bond.
