ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Just in time for the holiday season, the individuals that Milestone, Inc. serves will have a brighter season thanks to a recent donation from Flamingo Slots and Molly's Deli.

The nearly $4200 donation will be used to purchase Christmas gifts this holiday season. A check was presented Thursday morning at Rocvale Children's Home, which became a division of Milestone in 2001.

Shawn Way, CEO of Milestone says he is thankful for the Rockford community and says donations like these are great just in time to spread that holiday season joy.

He says, "The community of Rockford has been fantastic for Milestone for nearly 50 years. We celebrate Christmas here at Milestone for the entire month of December. We have Christmas parties, we have had so many different organizations support our efforts. And it just keeps coming, it makes such a huge difference for us."

In July 2001, RocVale Children's Home, became a division of Milestone, Inc. through a merger. Milestone now provides programs and services for more than 300 individuals with developmental disabilities age six through adulthood.

Another 2,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities from throughout Northern Illinois are patient at the Milestone Dental Clinic.

Milestone has thirty-nine facilities that include group homes, a specialized care residential facility, a child care facility, a sheltered workshop, a training center, and a dental clinic.
