ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Following the announcement that 67th District Representative Litesa Wallace will be the running mate of gubernatorial candidate Daniel Biss, we know one of the people stepping up for the vacant seat.
2003 Jefferson High School graduate, Maurice West, says he is running as a democratic candidate to fill Representative Wallace’s seat. West will be circulating petitions to get on the ballot for the November, 2018 election. As a former Rockford alderman and RVC Trustee, West says his experiences have helped him prepare to be a voice for families living in the 67th District.
“I saw so much ego. I saw too much blue running with blue and red working with red. I want to work with other Democrats and other Republicans to bring forth change for the people,” says West.
West has served as the Director of Career Development at Rockford University and is the founder of Share the Warmth - Rockford.
