Manufacturing business gives back by helping local fire department

STILLMAN VALLEY, Ill. (WIFR) – A local manufacturing business is working to give back to the community by giving one fire department an update.

425 Manufacturing discovered the Stillman Valley Firefighters could use an update to their flashlight holders, the small piece that attaches the lights to their helmets so firefighters can move with their hands free or better grip their tools when battling flames. The company says the fire department was an easy choice.

“We looked for something we could do to give back. Stillman is where we grew up and is close to us and dear to us. My son is actually a Stillman Valley Fire Fighter,” says 425 Manufacturing President Mike Thomason.

Thomason says since he posted on his Facebook page about his holders, other firefighters have reached out to him.
Since he has a small crew of 13 and it takes time to build the holders, Thomason says he doesn’t have any plans to build the lights for profit, but may do another donation to another department down the road.
