Man robbed after meetup in Rockford to buy cell phone

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A 40-year-old man was robbed in Rockford after meeting up with a woman to purchase a cell phone.

It happened around 8 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Rock River Avenue.

The victim agreed to meet the seller at a home in the area. Police say the victim approached the woman at the home, who went to the back to get the cell phone.

Two armed men approached the victim during the transaction. The suspects demanded his cash and other belongings before taking off in the victim's car.

The suspects were described as two black men and a black woman. The woman was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with gray-checkered pajama pants.

The two men described as early 20-year-olds and around 190 pounds. One was wearing a black hoodie, the other was wearing a gray hoodie. Police say both were armed with handguns.
