CHICAGO (AP) -- A man has been charged with aggravated battery after authorities say he stabbed another man during an argument near a parking area at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

Police say in a statement that Segundo Pineda Ovalle, 57, of Chicago was charged Wednesday and remained in custody pending a hearing Thursday. It wasn't immediately known whether he has a lawyer.

The stabbing happened early Wednesday and police say Pineda Ovalle and the other man were known to solicit passengers for cab rides at the airport. Police say they were arguing while on a walkway bridge from Terminal 5 before the stabbing.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says one of its officers spotted them and intervened to stop the knife attack. The injured 56-year-old man was in stable condition at a hospital.
