Man arrested for crash killing ISP Trooper Brooke Jones-Story

PECATONICA, Ill. (WIFR) -- A man has been arrested for a crash that took the life of ISP Trooper Brooke Jones-Story last month.

Authorities arrested Craig W. Dittmar, 55, of Stockton. He is accused of driving a semi-trailer that struck both Jones-Story and her squad car on March 28, 2019.

The crash happened March 28, 2019 on U.S. 20 near Freeport around 11:30 a.m. Jones-Story was inspecting another semi-trailer before she was struck and killed.

Dittmar faces felony charges, including two counts of reckless homicide and one count of operating a commercial vehicle while fatigued - causing death.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dittmar. The bond for the warrant was set at $250,000 (10 percent). Dittmar is being held in Stephenson County Jail.
