19-year-old man arrested for Tuesday's burglary of Rockford Mobil

A 19-year-old Rockford man was arrested in connection to a burglary Tuesday morning at the Mobil gas station on College Avenue.

Darion Turley was charged with burglary, criminal damage to a property, aggravated assault to a police officer and resisting police.

Police say they found the suspect after responding to suspicious activity in the 1500 block of Meadow Court on Thursday afternoon.

As officers approached an apartment, Turley ran away from the area. Police were able to stop Turley after a brief foot chase.

Officers say they recognized Turley from surveillance video and still images from the burglary earlier this week.

Police had been looking for the suspect who allegedly entered the Mobil through the roof and ran away with a cash register.

Turley was taken to Winnebago County Jail after a follow-up investigation from the financial property and crimes unit. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.

Police have released more surveillance photos​ of a man suspected of a Tuesday morning burglary of a Mobil gas station on Rockford.

Officers received a burglary call around 3:15 a.m. for the Mobil at 360 College Avenue. Police say a man entered the building through the roof, took a cash register and ran away the scene.

No one is hurt after a man enters a Rockford Mobil gas station through its roof and steals a cash register.

Police responded to the burglary call around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Mobil at 360 College Avenue.

Officers learned a man entered the building through the roof, was able to take the cash register and ran away the scene.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect, who's described as white or Hispanic with medium height and build.
