ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Magpie is back in business at a new location in downtown Rockford.
The restaurant reopened doors at 126 N. Madison Street on Friday.
Magpie's last building, located 307 South Main Street, was a total loss in the summer of 2017 after it was damaged by a fire at the Hanley Furniture building next door.
Two years later, Magpie returns with some new menu items. The eatery now includes dinner, beer and wine, in addition to its traditional breakfast and lunch options.
Magpie owner Stephanie Caltagerone says the past two years have been tough, but she's optimistic about the future of the restaurant.
"It's hard not to think that the fire was a blessing in disguise, cause this is a much better location and it's a much cooler building," says Caltagerone. "Not that we didn't love our old space, but the foot traffic here is so much better."
You can visit Magpie during the following hours:
Tuesday-Thursday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Friday-Saturday: 7 a.m. to midnight
Sunday: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
