Machesney Park man, charged for murder of his mother, ruled unfit to stand trial

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Machesney Park man, accused for the murder​ of his 70-year-old mother in May, was ruled unfit to stand trial by a Winnebago County judge on Wednesday.

Kent Stoner, 46, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery for the death of his mother.

Authorities say the mother, Sharon Stoner, was found dead in the 200 block of Northway Park Road on Monday, May 6, 2019.

Stoner is due back in court in November. He faces up to 67 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
