ROSCOE, Ill. (WIFR) -- Illinois Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti made a stop in northern Winnebago County Friday to tour a manufacturing plant.
Sanguinetti visited Forest City Gear in Roscoe and talked to employees about jobs and the economy. One of her main concerns keeping businesses in Illinois, stating Wisconsin has already talked to the manufacturing company, hoping to lure it across the state line.
Sanguinetti says she's working on lowering the taxes to keep people and companies from leaving Illinois.
"We're traveling through businesses right now that are facing and basically being crushed by high tax burden and the sorts of policies that remain in place in Illinois. Yet, if you're neighboring Wisconsin like Forest City Gear is, they see policies that are more business friendly," said Sanguinetti.
Sanguinetti said it has taken decades to get us in this trouble and that it's going to take a lot of policies to fix everything.
