ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Rockford's southwest side will soon see a new development break ground with the hopes of attracting future businesses.
The city council approved a permit for a Love's Gas Station and Truck Stop that will be placed at the intersection of South Main Street and Bypass 20. The city says this is a great use of the undeveloped portion of land that will provide another way to draw travelers into town.
"This first development is the Love's Truck Stop but with the initiation of the development, we hope additional businesses will come along and it's a great opportunity for future industrial expansion,” said City Administrator Todd Cagnoni.
The city says the developer plans to start construction later this year with the hopes of opening the truck stop in 2019.
