Loves Park Police raise funds for second K-9
For the first the Loves Park Police Department will have two K-9's on its force. It needs to raise $40,000 to that and that's where a couple of celebrity bar tenders come in!
23 News anchor Shannon Kelly was behind the bar at Rascals in Loves Park Thursday night with Mayor Greg Jury and State Representative John Cabello raising money for the department's K-9 unit. The department raised money for its current K-9 last year and Chief Chuck Lynde says he's confident they'll be able to come up with the funds so K-9 blitz can have a brother by next fall. Officers say the K-9's help keep our streets safe while playing a key role in community policing.
“We’re always looking for ways to have a closer relationship with the residents and business owners. Our officers have to do their job to help keep the community safer and in turn the residents and business owners show their support when we need something like this,” said Loves Park Police Chief Chuck Lynde.
