Winter weather continues to pound the Stateline, and locals are stocking up ahead of Monday's anticipated snow fall.

Ice Melt has been in high demand, so much that stores like Ace Hardware had nearly 20,000 pounds of Ice Melt delivered Monday morning.

Ace Hardware says some customers bought up to five bags of salt at a time and others waited upwards of an hour to purchase their supplies.

Store co-owner John Zanacco says the store sold ice melt in quantities of 10, 20 and 50 pounds, all which flew off the shelves.

Zanacco says the last two months have led to some of the largest sales he has ever seen. He wants people to keep in mind that less is more when using ice melt.

"People make the mistake of putting too much product, but you just need to put nice and even little layer around and let it do its work," Zanacco said. "I've had a 20 pound bag for the last two years."

Zanacco adds people should be mindful of the various types of ice melt, including those safe to use around pets as well as those designed for subzero temperatures.
