ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR)--- Today President Donald Trump signed an executive order that made way for the new U.S. Space Command.
The order authorized the Defense Department to commence the creating of the new organization that will serve to oversee space operations.
The goal of the new Command is to find more effective ways to defend U.S. satellites. This order comes after U.S. Intelligence agencies reported Russia and China to be working on destructive weapons for future wars.
"We have to be proactive in this, we can't wait till the last minute and say, 'well we need to protect what we have up there.' We have to think ahead," says Marine Veteran, Bruce Giersch.
The new Command is set to cost around 800 million dollars and will be included in the 2020 fiscal year budget.
