ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Health centers across the 17th District in Illinois will receive more than $8.2 million in grant funding to provide help for communities in need.

Rockford's Crusader Central Clinic Association is among the health care centers to receive the funds. The organization will receive $6.4 million dollars in health care cluster grants.

The Whiteside County Health Department and Community Health Clinic will also receive $1.8 million in grants.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos issued a statement on the grants reading: "All hardworking Americans should have access to affordable care, and it is without a doubt that community health centers are vital in providing this care throughout our region."

The grants will help with community-based health services after a 70 percent cut in funding last year.
