Rockford, Ill (WIFR) -- Nine years ago Matthew Clarke was killed while riding his bike down Sandy Hollow Road, but friends and family are keeping his memory alive by releasing balloons to celebrate his life
The yearly tradition is meant to raise awareness around Clarke’s case with hope that one day someone will come forward. To this day the family still does not know who the drivers were that hit and killed him. Clarke's mom Michelle Rubert says he was loved by everyone he met and he is dearly missed by those who knew him.
"You know this person, or persons because there were two cars, has to live with themselves,” said Rubert. “We might not know who you are but God knows who you are and one day you're going to have to face the maker."
