ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- One Stateline business is working to help out local animal shelters while also benefiting veterans who suffer from PTSD.

XPO Logistics hosts their 4th annual Fill the Truck for the Kittens and the Pups event at Home Depot this afternoon. Many people came through to fill the truck with dog and cat food, beds and blankets and cleaning supplies that will go to local animal shelters. Raffle prizes were sold and the proceeds go to Circle of Change, an organization that helps veterans with PTSD work with dogs.

"I'm a big animal guy for one thing and also in regards to the circle of change, I'm also a veteran so it kind of went hand in hand, so it's a perfect match. It's a great accomplishment to give back to the community and different organizations able to reach out and show what's available to them,” said event coordinator Don Rolon.

XPO Logistics says each year they get about $25,000 worth of food, supplies, and money through raffle tickets. This year they're hoping to double that.
