The Salvation Army in Rockford needs a boost from you to make sure it can still help people in need throughout the region.

Nathan Luttig says the Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Program changed his life. He wants others to benefit as well.

"I wasn't allowed to go home. I had nowhere else to go. When I left the hospital it was either here or go to jail. We found this and they welcomed me in. After that they have been my number one savior so far,” said Luttig.

"The rehab center helps men who are down on their luck or struggle with substance abuse. They come here and get job training, housing and food. After a six month course or sometimes a year course they are ready to step back into society,” said Miralem Botic, Salvation Army Marketing Director.

Money made from items sold at The Salvation Center are used to support this program, but the center is running low on supplies.

"Being that it is winter, we are still accepting and looking for winter weather coats, jackets, shoes, clothes in general. Other furniture items are very much in need as well,” said Botic.

If you want to help, you can donate items at any salvation army store. Monetary donations are collected in the red kettle or online.
