ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Blackhawk Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America is looking to recruit both boys and girls to join its new chapter.

The Council says curricula and rank requirements will be the same for girls joining Cub Scouts.

The Den housing will be separated, and girls' uniforms are slightly different.

The group is holding an informational event at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Ralston Elementary.

Those interested in the Scouts BSA program can join starting in February of 2019.

Questions can be directed to the Blackhawk Area Council's Facebook page or by calling 815-397-0210.
