SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. (WIFR) ----- Helping families dealing with rare illnesses is the mission behind the Liv Life Foundation's Popping a Cork for a Cure.
Held at DC Estate Winery in South Beloit, the fifth annual fundraiser works to highlight the foundation's work to provide resources for parents facing a child's terminal illness.
Together with wine tastings, a silent and live auction, visitors helped raise thousands of dollars for research and support.
Our own Elaine Rojas-Castillo emceed Saturday’s event, where the message of hope through pain rang true.
"People who have severe medical needs aren't visible as much in the community and so getting together, talking to our friends and family about what we experienced and how we can help other people, it's just important to be a community in that way," said foundation president Kelly Hubert.
