ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR) -- For the fourth straight year 23 News Anchor Mike Garrigan was able to take part as a judge at Lincoln Middle School. As a full stage of special spellers it whittled down to just one king or queen bee.

This year 8th grader Gabe Law is crowned Lincoln Middle School Spelling Bee Champ after the second place finisher got knocked out on prestigious. All that stood between Gabe and the title was the word marinate. And you heard Gabe with nerves of steel nail it in front of the whole student body. Next up for Gabe is the Spelling Bee Regionals March 18th at Harlem High School. The winner of that will make it to Washington DC for the Scripps Spelling Bee Challenge.
