LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR)-- Lights, floats, and a Christmas tree were the main event of the night.
"It's put on by the City of Loves Park and The Village of Machesney Park. We have a lot of youth groups, community groups, and business groups. So, it's a lot of fun," said organizer Diana Johnson.
One of the groups joining the parade for the first time is Cub Scout group 418.
"We decided to be a part of this awesome parade to get the word of scouting out within our community, said Cub Scout Master Megan Crain."
And the scouts came out in a special way...
"They were so excited, especially when we told them they were going to dress up as presents because scouting is a gift,” said Crain.
Organizers say there were more than 50 floats in this year's parade, which is more than any other year.
"Every year everybody goes above and beyond with their floats so it's more excited every year," said Johnson.
"We had to get our trailer constructed and we were able to do so with the help of some awesome scout leaders,” said Crain.
The night ended a large crowd cheering at the freshly lit Christmas tree.
