ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The League of Women voters held a screening of the documentary “2,300 Miles to Work”. This film tells the story of young Tajikistan migrants seeking better opportunities in Russia. The film served as a way to open up a discussion and promote an understanding of immigration.
"Here in the United States when we talk about immigration we forget the mass movement of people is really a global issue. The United States is not alone in trying to regulate people coming to our country for better opportunities so it's really important to keep perspective and understand and that we're living in a time where there's more displaced people,” Sara Dady from the League of Women Voters said.
