ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Keith Country Day School school is switching up its curriculum by taking its students out of the classroom for an entire week to learn about science in a whole new way.
The school held its first intersession this week where students went on a different field trip each day. Today's trip took first through fourth graders to the Nicholas Conservatory where students learned about plants and photosynthesis. Teachers say the kids love being able to learn new things outside of a typical classroom setting.
"it's nice to be part of this because we can always go back recall some of those things like 'hey remember when we were doing that experiment at Nicholas Conservatory? Remember what the paperclip represented? What happened when we added more sugar?' So a lot of this kind of stuff helps it stick a lot better," said Denise Marin a third and fourth grade teacher.
