ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Employees at a Rockford Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant refuse to comply with an attempted armed robber.

Workers told police an unknown black male suspect entered the restaurant just before 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Kilburn Avenue.

They say the suspect announced the armed robbery while waving a kitchen knife and demanded money from the cash register.

The employees did not cooperate with the suspect. He tried to open it himself but was unsuccessful and fled the scene empty-handed.

The suspect was last spotted northbound from the business on foot.

No one was hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.
