UPDATE: Charges issued for man, boy accused of east side carjacking

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- 19-year-old Jaden Griffin and a 16-year-old boy face aggravated vehicular hijacking and possession of a stolen vehicle charges in connection with Thursday's carjacking.

Griffin also faces another possession of a stolen vehicle charge as well as armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful vehicular invasion, robbery and theft charges in connection with a June incident in the 2100 block of Sherman Avenue.


ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Two men are arrested in connection with a vehicular hijacking at Don Carter Lanes Thursday.

Rockford police say a car was allegedly stolen by two men, one a juvenile, at the bowling alley around 2:30 p.m. Officers found the car in the 100 block Royal Avenue.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office says two of its deputies were called with K-9 Cliff to help when the two men ran away on foot to the 100 block of Albert Avenue.

Investigators say Cliff found the weapon and the two men. One man fought deputies and punched Cliff. Deputies Metzler and Martellaro along with Cliff are okay; one man was taken to the hospital for a bite.

Rockford police say charges are pending for the two suspects.
