ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A perfect story for the season of giving with some generous donations of time and money makes the Just Breathe 815 safe house a little bit safer.

The safe house is a place in the community for teens and young adults and victims of domestic violence to go when they are in need of clothing, food, shelter or any other resources. The safe house was in need of a new roof and that's when Home Depot comes in. The store donated 10,000 dollars for supplies and the new roof was installed for free by a former homeless person who now owns his own roofing business.

"I'm just so grateful and thankful for having the community coming together Erica made this possible with JB815 safe house to get a new roof today that's going to be provide a safe space and a safe place for our kids, teens, and young adults.” said Kevin Ware, founder of Just Breathe 815.
