Janesville man arrested for 6th OWI after hit-and-run, then spits on officers

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WIFR) -- A Janesville man was arrested for his sixth OWI after a hit-and-run crash Wednesday afternoon, then reportedly spit on officers while he was taken into custody.

Police say Jeremy Prinkey, 42, side-swiped another vehicle around 4:15 p.m. on W. Court Street at S. Arch Street, then drove away from the scene.

The victim was able to report the driver's license plate to police. Officers then found the car in the driveway of a home in the 400 block of Harding Street.

Police arrested Prinkey, the accused driver, after showing signs of impairment. Prinkey allegedly made threats and spit on officers as he tried to resist arrest.

According to Wisconsin Department of Transportation records, Prinkey had five prior OWI offenses.Police also acquired a warrant for a legal blood draw with the results pending.

Prinkey was taken to the Rock County Jail for his 6th OWI, in addition to charges for possessing open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, hit and run, operating while revoked, bail jumping, battery to a police officer, and resisting arrest.
