Illinois teachers could receive tax credits for school supplies

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Illinois lawmakers try to help the wallets of state teachers by giving them some money back for buying their own school supplies.

Illinois teachers could receive a tax credit of up to 250 dollars in addition to 250 from federal deductions. Senator Tom Cullerton says the credit helps teachers who use their own money to pay for items in their classrooms. The credit is available for public school principals, aides, and teachers who work at least 900 hours in a school year.
